When Steve Jobs invented the iPhone, he said he was reinventing the smartphone, and make it easier to use. Baloney. There's nothing easy about using an iPhone, Android or BlackBerry.
Truth be told, the "smarter" a smartphone gets, the more difficult it become to operate and learn all its features. I own a BlackBerry, love the phone, but am often frustrated by downloading and installing operating system upgrades and new apps and going through the various menu choices. I am sure that the same is true of the iPhone, although I wouldn't buy one unless it came with Adobe Flash and I could get one for about $100.00. Okay sue me. I'm cheap.
So what's the answer? The answer is a "dummer" smartphone, a phone that requires no explanation. A phone so simple to use a blind person could learn how to use it in under 10 seconds. Sounds impossible? No it's not. John Doe Amsterdam thought so too, so it designed John's Phone a basic cell phone that works like your old pushbutton home landline phone.
According to John Doe Amsterdam, John’s Phone is the world’s most basic cell phone. John’s Phone allows you to make and receive calls anywhere in the world: no frills and no unnecessary features such as a camera, text messaging and an endless number of ringtones. John’s Phone keeps things simple.

John’s Phone requires no explanation. Use the phone to call and hang up, turn the sound up or down, and lock or unlock it: it couldn’t be any simpler. The speed-dial feature, which allows you to save speed-dial numbers under every number key, makes John’s Phone perfect as a kids’ cell phone.
Phone is a large-key phone. The back of the phone features a flap containing an address book and a pen – this makes John’s Phone perfect for older users too.
John’s Phone was designed by John Doe Amsterdam, making the cell phone a unique piece of Dutch design.

COMMENTARY: I love this phone. That's my next phone. It takes my SIM card. And if you ever need something to write one to take notes or jot down phone numbers or addresses when talking with somebody over the phone, that built-in address book and pen are pure genius. Dumb is smart. Dumb is good. Dumb is easy. Dumb is cheap. Only 79.95 Euros.

Well, it's still a "smart" phone. It's as simple as it gets, making life easier without the difficult operations.
