Russian architect Alexander Remizov has designed a new hotel for life after global warming.
Naturally, it's called The Ark and it can stand up to earthkquakes and floods.
Remizov tells Spiegel the could be put together in three to four months. The hotel with 151,000 square feet of living space would cost roughly the same as building an energy-efficient house.
The floating hotel is made of a durable transparent foil, not glass
Half of the hotel is UNDERWATER
The Ark generates energy from wind, thermals, and solar
It's a floating greenhouse
Filled with live birds
It can also be installed on land
Construction would take only three to four months, using prefabricated pieces
Ready to go

COMMENTARY: The Ark project was developed based on the experience of the "Architecture of Catastrophes" of the International Union of Architects. Alexander was nominated for the World Architecture Festival WAF - 2010 and received his third degree on the results of the First International Festival of innovative technologies in architecture and construction of "Green Project - 2010" held in November this year in Moscow, in the "conceptual projects."
"The Ark", is able to provide its inhabitants with all the comforts of home, including protection against earthquakes, and can float in the event of rising sea levels caused by global warming.
The Ark is a bioclimatic building equipped with an self-sustaining life support systems, designed as a response to possible climate change. The objective was to create a healthy and comfortable environment for humans.
The Ark is designed for quick construction in any type situation: on land, water, under different weather conditions, in areas lacking sufficient infrastructure, as well as in areas near seismic zones or land subject to flooding due to rising sea levels.
The Ark is designed with an fully-integrated renewable energy system equipped with an uninterruptible power supply. Waste can be converted into energy or bio-fertilizer. The Ark provides its inhabitants with arts, recreation, residential, medical care and education facilities. Built-in telephone, internet and television systems provide residents communications with the outside world.
Construction of The Ark starts with the installation of a central support pipe of lightweight structures. The building foundation serves as a floating platform. At the bottom of this pipe is a power unit, which converts thermal energy into electricity, and heat pumps and wind turbines are located in the top. After installation of the pipe, construction can be completed by the energy produced by the pipe. The building dome uses a network of wooden support arches, and the height from the foundation to the ceiling is 30 meters. Upon completion the Ark occupies an area of 3,2 thousand square meters.

Wow such an amazing invention worth admiring. An ark complete with Solar Panels and wind turbines is indeed almost a miracle. Using the Earth's free and renewable energy should be part of every architect's goal when trying to construct something. I'm glad that someone finally has come up with a brilliant way to utilize much of the Earth's free resources that are not only beneficial to mankind but to the planet as well.

Amazing example of innovative architecture. Like the way solar and wind energy is efficiently used in this model. Was wondering when this hotel going to launch?
