ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Bookseller Borders Group Inc. said Tuesday it signed a deal with Verizon Communications Inc. to provide free WiFi service in "virtually all" of its more than 500 stores around the country.
The service is expected to be available by mid-October.
Borders shares slid 3 cents to close at $3.27.
COMMENTARY: Borders is having serious financial problems as book readership delines so adding free WIFI service may impact revenues slightly, but will this be sufficient? I assume that Seattle's Best coffee shops, the specialty coffee chain that is located in Borders stores will be offering the WIFI.
